4 Ways to Build Your Twitter Following

Artboard 1Twitter

So you’ve identified Twitter as a social media outlet for your business and you’ve started to find and publish content. Social media success is yours! Well…not quite, but you are on the right track. What you will find out next is that unlike the 1989 classic film Field of Dreams, if you build it – they might not come right away. But there are some tips you can use to help make sure you are moving in the right direction.

Content is king

At the end of day if you focus on crafting content that provides value to your key audience, that audience will continue to grow. If you do everything right except for content you can attract the right people to your page but without anything to engage with, they won’t stay for long.

Hashtags are your friend

Tweets with Hashtags get twice as much engagement as those without. Why? Because hashtags are a staple of Twitter, allowing people from all over to all participate in the same conversation. This holds true for Businesses too. Experimentation is key, so see what your key constituents are talking about and start from there!

Don’t be afraid to follow others

While not everyone is willing to follow back, most are, and you won’t know until you try. Following someone is a great way for them to know that you are active on Twitter especially if your Twitter account is relatively new.

Don’t be afraid to ask!

From trade shows to emails, how often to you communicate with customers, prospects, or friends on a regular basis? How often in these communications do you tell people you have a social media presence? Or better yet that you’d like them to follow you on Social Media? It never hurts to ask.
